We are rapidly approaching Christmas and the turn of the year. It is a time for reflection, but also for exaggerated expectations. A time for looking back and looking ahead. And a time for good resolutions. You know the story: on January 2, a slightly overweight man over 50 walks into the gym and says, “I'd like a membership! I've decided to lose 10 kilos and live healthier.” The fitness instructor smiles and replies, “We have just the right offer for you. A trial workout and 7 selfies!” That's how it is with good intentions. We have also decided to set ourselves a few goals, as usual. For example, to migrate even more of our customer connections to our own Fiber7 infrastructure. That means less copper and more fiber optics. We are currently at 84%, which is an increase of 4% compared to 2024. The remaining 16% of our broadband subscriptions are based almost exclusively on the BBCS resale platform. This is also used by other providers for their reselling products, and their 10 Gigabit fiber optic connections are now typically shared between 32 or 64 customers. This sharing is called XGS-PON. Our claim goes beyond that: no shared internet. Everyone should get their own undivided connection. A customer recently wrote us: «For almost a year now, you've been promising that the expansion of PoP XY to Fiber7 would be available ‘soon’. Why aren't you moving forward? Support keeps putting me off. Hybrid7 works, but I'd like to have Init7 Real ‘Sh*t’ ;-)» Yes, the Init7 Real Sh*t. No compromises, anywhere. That would be nice. In the above case, the planned development threw a spanner in the works. There are no more free fibers on the desired backhaul fiber optic cable. We therefore have to come up with an alternative. That takes time. Internet infrastructure cannot be installed at the click of a mouse. At the turn of the year, we had 390 Fiber7 PoPs. That makes us number 3 in Switzerland. You can see how the fiber optic expansion is progressing at any time on our daily updated maphere https://ftth.init7.net/. If you've read this far, please do us a favor. Our marketing team is eager to find out where ourNet Promoter Score (NPS) https://nextcloud.init7.net/apps/forms/s/rBnLMxERtw47fqQdqpx9zcqR stands. Please tell us how likely you are to recommend Init7 on a scale of 0 (not likely at all) to 10 (most likely). And while we're on the subject of good intentions: take your friends and neighbors with you to the “gym.” Better internet in 2026? That would be worth some persuasion – you already know about ourreferral program https://www.init7.net/en/init7-empfehlen/. The advantage of an Init7 connection? All it takes is a trial session, and the “extra pounds” will melt away on their own. We'd love it if you posted a selfie with the hashtag #Workout7. That's all from us in 2025. See you in 2026, all the best, and thank you for your loyalty. It is your loyalty that enables our commitment to «internet without breakdowns.» Fredy Künzler CEO Init7

Bits & Bites #14

Winterthur, 18.12.2025

Hello [Vorname] [Nachname]

We are rapidly approaching Christmas and the turn of the year. It is a time for reflection, but also for exaggerated expectations. A time for looking back and looking ahead. And a time for good resolutions.

You know the story: on January 2, a slightly overweight man over 50 walks into the gym and says, “I'd like a membership! I've decided to lose 10 kilos and live healthier.” The fitness instructor smiles and replies, “We have just the right offer for you. A trial workout and 7 selfies!”

That's how it is with good intentions.

Yes, the Init7 Real Sh*t. All it takes is a trial session, and the “extra pounds” will melt away on their own. We'd love it if you posted a selfie with the hashtag #Workout7.

That's all from us in 2025. See you in 2026, all the best, and thank you for your loyalty. It is your loyalty that enables our commitment to «internet without breakdowns.»

FTTH fiber optic construction from the perspective of property owners

Residential and commercial buildings in Switzerland have been connected to FTTH fiber optics for over 15 years now, and after initial skepticism among some property owners, the general consensus now is that FTTH is not a nice-to-have for tenants, but a necessity. A property with FTTH is simply worth more than one without.
But not so long ago, tenants were dependent on the goodwill of their landlords. It was only with the new Telecommunications Act (TCA) that the situation changed.
