Hello [Vorname] [Nachname]
You already know that I have a thing for football. I'll admit: On Thursday, May 22, at 10:20 pm, after the 2:0 win against FC Sion, I was very, very, very happy and relieved that the men of our favorite club, FC Winterthur, had managed to stay in the league in extremis.
This also means that you will continue to see our logo in the Super League broadcasts on the SRG and Blue channels at prime time.
But who is interested in men's football these days? Nobody!
Because women (footballers) achieve so much more – and not just at the UEFA Women's EURO 2025 in our country. The experiment conducted on Swiss television programm «Einstein», which pitted FC Winterthur's U19 juniors against FC Thun's U19s on an oversized pitch, will shut every women's football snob up. If you compensate for the physical disadvantages of the women, the men's pitch would have to be 132×84 meters, the ball 200 g heavier and the playing time 2×55 minutes. Incidentally, the test match only came to an end in a penalty shoot-out on the equally oversized goals – spoiler: In favor of FCW and both teams were – no wonder – pretty worn out. Which makes the performance of top scorer Elena van Niekerk in the National League B, “our” number 7 in the FCW women's team, that more impressive.
Before we turn our attention away from football, I would like to refer to last year's blog post «When the neighbours cheer earlier: football TV hell» with tips and tricks on Full HD and real-time TV. Because the question of time delay on live stream TV arises anew at every tournament in the summer.
Of course, we have not been idle in recent weeks. We have been working on the expansion of fiber optics in Switzerland and took part in the consultation on the Broadband Promotion Act (BBFG) – better known as the gigabit strategy. We consider the Federal Council's proposal to be rather immature, as I think there should be a right to fiber optics in a few years at the latest. FTTH as part of the Swiss public service, so to speak – an infrastructure that gives every household a free choice of provider at an attractive price.
If you're interested: Our consultation response is ten pages long (document in German).
Our commitment to a sensible telecommunications and digital policy in Switzerland is part of our daily work, which of course consists primarily of providing you with a high-quality Internet service. In addition, we are constantly building new Fiber7-PoPs, optimizing our processes and expanding the possibilities. Brand new: eBill. Coming soon: Backup7 - a service for business customers to make their Internet connection more resilient. You can see how well we do our work once again in the annual BILANZ Telekom Rating – the survey will run until July 6. Thank you for your support!
I wish you a great summer!

P.S. There will be another #NerdsUnited this year. Come to Winterthur on September 3 for a "Wintiwurst". We look forward to it!
