I admit, the last few days have been pretty turbulent. Thanks to your support in the public voting, I was able to receive “The Pascal” https://www.digitaleconomyaward.ch/en/Start on November 14th in Zurich's Hallenstadion. This award honours a person who has advanced digitalization in Switzerland over the past year. Of course, I was delighted to receive the award, but I also see it as an obligation to continue on the path we have taken towards an open and fair telecommunication market in Switzerland. After all, a prize like this does nothing to change the fact that there are still forces who want to profit from monopolies, who would rather demand more than less surveillance or who don't care anyway as long as the incumbent's annual dividend of around CHF 580 million flows reliably into the federal pockets. Of course, there are also setbacks. Not every legal dispute ends in our favor - it's like a football match: sometimes you concede a goal. Then you have to get up, straighten your crown and carry on - with the conviction that you are doing the right thing. It has always been my goal to use my resources to empower other people to be innovative. On another note, a few months ago, we also launched our new business product “Ethernet7” https://www.init7.net/en/offer/ethernet7-carrier-ethernet-service-ces/, which can serve as the basis for site networking, cloud connectivity, managed corporate networks and security solutions. To use a buzzword: Ethernet7 is actually an SD-WAN (Software Defined Wide Area Network) product and is becoming increasingly popular. However, I'm not one for buzzwords and marketing blah-blah, because an honest and high-quality service is much more valuable than the shiny brochure that goes with it. With this in mind: don't let yourself be dazzled, but let yourself be enchanted by the many lights of the upcoming festive season. Fredy “The Pascal” Künzler

Bits & Bites #09

Winterthur, 22.11.2024

Hello [Vorname] [Nachname]

I admit, the last few days have been pretty turbulent.

Thanks to your support in the public voting, I was able to receive “The Pascal” on November 14th in Zurich's Hallenstadion.

On another note, a few months ago, we also launched our new business product “Ethernet7”, which can serve as the basis for site networking, cloud connectivity, managed corporate networks and security solutions.

How an Internet provider controls its data traffic

Where does the data that an average Internet customer obtains with their broadband connection actually come from? For an Internet provider, it is necessary to constantly analyze the data sources. However, it is not the traffic of an individual customer that is of interest, but the aggregated consumption of the entire customer base. In this way, the data protection and privacy of the customer is guaranteed.

Every organisation running its own network needs IP addresses. The scarcity of IPv4 and the ability to transfer unused addresses between networks has created a dynamic secondary market with constantly fluctuating prices.

RIPE & DENOG

Over the last few weeks, we have been able to be part of two great events: RIPE in Prague and DENOG in Berlin. We are particularly proud that Fredy was able to make a valuable contribution with an exciting presentation. If you missed his presentation or would like to see it again, take a look at the video.

Future Day 2024

Once again this year, we hosted seven curious girls at the National Future Day, who were able to immerse themselves in the fascinating world of technology. They programmed Thymio robots and carried out exciting experiments. In the afternoon, they visited the 780WIP data center, where they were able to experience first-hand how data finds its way through digital networks. We hope that we were able to arouse their interest in technical professions and that they will remain enthusiastic in the future.

See you soon in the new year!

We wish you a successful final spurt for 2024! We'll be back in the new year with exciting news. Until then, all the best and have a great time!
