Hello [Vorname] [Nachname]
The entire telecom industry thought that the long-awaited decision in the fiber optic dispute would be made at the end of 2023 or in the first quarter at the latest - but it is taking longer. The Competition Commission will have its reasons for delaying the ruling. According to the latest rumors, "by summer". I'm sure the Competition Commission will do what it can, because the decision has to be legally watertight and that's not so easy.
Nevertheless, the expansion of FTTH infrastructure is regularly in the media, for example in various Tamedia Group products over the Easter weekend. Unfortunately, some very relevant aspects were omitted, in particular the fact that the incumbent, i.e. the ex-monopolist, wanted to re-monopolize the fibre optic network. Unfortunately, the journalist also failed to mention that this is illegal under antitrust law. Anyone who thought disparagingly of "thesis journalism" when reading this, was not entirely wrong. Before COMCO's ruling in the fiber optic dispute is even available, there is already a fierce battle for its interpretative sovereignty. So don't be fooled by opinion makers. In our blog, we already reviewed the fibre optic dispute story a while ago.
Of course, we are not remaining inactive in other areas either. In addition to 23 new Fiber7 PoPs in the first quarter of 2024, we have also put new PoPs into operation in various data centers in Switzerland in recent months.
We are also launching our first marketing campaign in the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland these days: "Internet senza fronzoli. Detto. Fatto." Loosely translated: "Internet without blah blah blah. Said. Done."
And therefore no more blah blah blah. Because I want to go to the match of our favorite club FC Winterthur! See you soon!
